Hundreds Expected for Foster Family Picnic
The first annual Foster Family Day Picnic is scheduled for Saturday at Irvine Park, where hundreds of foster parents and their families will be entertained by Disney characters and musical groups.
The daylong celebration is sponsored by the Orange County Foster Care Auxiliary, the local chapter of the California State Foster Parent Assn.
William Steiner, executive director of the Orangewood Children’s Foundation, said the organization had contributed $1,500 to help sponsor the first picnic.
“This is a good way for all the foster parents to get together for a day of fun. And it is also important for the foster kids to have a day in their honor,” Steiner said.
