UC Irvine and the Huntington Beach Union High School District are among 25 institutions and firms in Orange County to be recognized this year for “achieving significant electric energy savings,” Southern California Edison Co. announced.

The 25 were leaders in reducing electricity usage during times of the day when demand for electricity is greatest, the utility company said.

“Energy management helps to reduce the need for new electric-generating capacity, which benefits all Edison customers,” said Robert Beck, Edison’s Orange County division vice president.
