An adult and two youths have been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting incident last week involving the Cleveland High football team, police said Wednesday.
One youth arrested on Wednesday was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and trespassing, police said. A second youth and David Nickerson, 18, of Pacoima, were arrested last week and charged with trespassing, police said.
The shooting occured Oct. 22 after three individuals exchanged words with members of the Cleveland football team as it prepared for practice at its campus in Reseda. One of the three then fired four or five shots from a handgun toward the Cleveland players, according to a witness, Cleveland teacher Dan Kubelka. No one was injured in the incident.
The suspects reportedly chanted slogans of San Fernando High, Cleveland’s opponent in a football game last Friday.
