Supporters of the South Coast Medical Center, a not-for-profit hospital in South Laguna, gathered for an elegant evening of dining and dancing at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Laguna Niguel on Friday night.

Before the crowd of nearly 400 arrived, directors of the Winners Circle, as the group is known, gathered to present the hospital’s chief of cardiology with a $100,000 check, which will make it possible for the hospital to purchase a color flow Doppler echo cardiograph--a highly advanced diagnostic tool.

“If we’re not the first in the area with the Doppler, we’re among the few,” Dr. John (Steve) Reynard said after accepting the check on behalf of the hospital. “This is the latest tool in non-invasive cardiology. Basically, it’s safe, painless and very informative.”

Though the meal was delicious, the party-goers could hardly be kept seated between courses as Joe Moshay and his 10-piece orchestra brought them to their feet at every opportunity.

Among those enjoying the evening were Richard and Eleanor Harman (he is president of the Winners Circle), John and Sally Chamberlain, Fran Reynard, Don Beckenbaugh, and George and Glendene Woodruff.
