Proposition 61: State Salary Limits

Share

The taxpayers should vote yes on Proposition 61. The taxpayers must have some control of the salaries that they pay to their employees. Any other arrangement causes conflict of interest. Proposition 61 returns this power to the people who pay the bill.

Citizens should not be mislead by the “disinformation” that is being made available to them by our employees who have a vested interest in maintaining their salaries and their control over them. Saying that passage of Proposition 61 will be disastrous for the state does not have value.

Do not be concerned about the $64,000 salary. That is $245 per day five days a week for a complete year. It would be good if workers’ and pensioners’ incomes could approach that amount.

Much is being made of the $7 billion in vacation and sick-time pay-outs that may or may not be demanded because of the passage of Proposition 61.

It is important to know that the $7 billion obligation has been laid on us taxpayers by the Legislature and will have to be paid some day, and if Proposition 61 is not passed the obligation will continue to grow.
