When employed at the Boy’s Club in Garden Grove in the early 1970s, I recall the outstanding competitiveness of a young, very short Lenny Dykstra. He made up for his lack of size in athletics with extraordinary spirit and determination.

His performance in the playoffs and the World Series demonstrated once again that success can be achieved not only by the physically strong and powerful but by the stout of spirit as well.
