Operation Go Golf, a pilot program to encourage players to speed up play on Los Angeles public golf courses, got the go-ahead at a meeting of the Los Angeles City Board of Recreation and Park Commissioners for a monthlong tryout.

The board ruled, however, that the program would only be for education purposes and would not be enforced during the trial run.

The proposed program would put time limits into effect so that if a group’s time exceeded 2 hours 20 minutes on the front nine, the group would not be allowed to continue play. Enforcement will be considered after the tryout.
