A 24-year-old Santa Ana resident has been arrested on suspicion of the hit-and-run death of a 21-year-old bicyclist last week, but authorities on Sunday sought public help to find the white van involved in the accident.

Santa Ana police on Sunday identified the suspect as Godfrey Bolden, 24, of Santa Ana.

Police said accident investigator Tony Durand found clues, including a license number, that led to the arrest of Bolden on Friday. Bolden was booked into the Orange County Jail on suspicion of manslaughter and felony hit-and-run, police said.

Bolden is suspected of hitting bicyclist William Kidwell of Santa Ana as he rode north on Greenville Street last Wednesday night. Kidwell was pronounced dead shortly after the early evening accident near Glenwood Way. Police launched a search for a white van and its male driver, who, witnesses told police, climbed out of the van and approached Kidwell’s prone form before fleeing the accident site.

Police on Sunday asked for the public’s help in locating the van allegedly involved in the accident. Officers described the vehicle as a white, 1967 Dodge van with California license number 64779A.
