“Glitz, Glamour and Ghouls” were all part of a luncheon fund-raiser held recently at The Westin South Coast Plaza hotel.

The event, which was attended by 250 people, raised $6,000 for the Laguna Beach Ebell Club.

The benefit’s chairwoman was Bunny Pero (listed as “head ghoul” on the program).

Fashions from Ellesse in Atrium Court began the “glitz and glamour” portion, after the Wednesday afternoon program opened with some eerie music as fog enveloped the stage and dissipated, revealing the models.

Kay Wilson, former president of the Ebell Club, said: “We’re no fly-by-night organization. Not too many people know that we are 53 years old.

“When the group was formed in 1933, the dues were only 50 cents a year--25 cents in the spring and 25 cents in the fall,” she said. “It was the Depression, and members had to do service work because no one had any money. There wasn’t any such thing as raising any money.”

Proceeds from the event will go toward community projects, said the club’s current president, Lillian Garrison.
