A man was in custody Monday after he allegedly fled the scene of a fatal traffic collision at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Brookhurst Street, Police Lt. Bob Puckett said.

Jose Cacias, 22, of Anaheim was booked into City Jail late Sunday on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and felony manslaughter. He was held in lieu of $25,000 bail.

The collision, earlier that evening, killed Kendall Broder, 71, of Orange. He was northbound on Brookhurst when his van struck Cacias’ westbound vehicle, police said. Broder was partially ejected, and the van rolled on top of him.

Broder was pronounced dead at the scene, Puckett said, and two passengers in his van were injured. They were taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where both were listed in stable condition Monday.

Cacias was located about a mile from the scene of the accident by an officer in a police helicopter, Puckett said.
