Joseph (Joe Bananas) Bonanno, the former organized crime boss who kept his silence in prison for more than a year rather than testify about the Mafia, has returned home and is recovering from 13 months in a federal prison, his attorney said Monday.

“He’s very happy to be back home in Tucson,” said lawyer Alfred S. Donau III. Bonanno, 81, was released Saturday on the order of U.S. District Judge Richard Owen.
