FAA Says Small Plane, 727 Jet Had Close Call

CHICAGO —
The Federal Aviation Administration said Tuesday it is investigating an incident in which a small plane came within a mile of an American Airlines jet carrying 50 passengers at almost the same altitude.
The close call between the Boeing 727 and single-engine Cessna occurred about 30 miles southwest of O’Hare Airport on Friday, FAA spokesman Mort Edelstein said. No injuries were reported.
