State game officials returned a mountain lion to Ronald W. Caspers Wilderness Park in Orange County after capturing and tagging the animal as part of a behaviorial study on the big cats. The female cougar was the second to be captured by Department of Fish and Game officials since a study was started last week because of two recent attacks by the animals on children in the park east of San Juan Capistrano. Trackers, with the help of dogs, treed the 75-pound cat and tranquilized it, said spokesman Pat Moore. The animal, which is 4 to 5 years old, was tagged and fitted with a radio transmitter, and released. “It was a perfectly normal, healthy cat,” Moore said. On Friday, trackers caught and tagged another female cougar, similar in size. The 7,500-acre park will remain closed at least through December.
