In another Indiana development, senior forward Daryl Thomas was dropped from the team by basketball Coach Bob Knight for failing to meet the coach’s personal academic standards. Thomas, a 6-foot 7-inch starter from Westchester, Ill., averaged 14.5 points and 4.8 rebounds a game last season.

Since Knight became coach at Indiana in 1972, 25 players have left the team for various reasons.
