Naum Shalamanov of Bulgaria set world records in the snatch, the jerk and overall to capture the gold medal in the featherweight (132-pound) division in the World Weightlifting Championships at Sophia, Bulgaria.
On the second attempt, Shalamanov, the defending world title-holder, snatched 325 pounds to improve the record he held by four pounds.
He also set world records in the jerk with 414 pounds and in the total lift with 739 pounds, improving the old records he held by one pound and 5.5 pounds, respectively.
