Danzig Connection, the 1986 Belmont Stakes winner, has been retired to Wimbledon Stud at Lexington, Ky., because of bone chips in his front right knee, trainer Woody Stephens said.
The 3-year-old son of Danzig earned $1,002,620 during a career in which he had 6 victories, 5 seconds and 4 thirds in 17 starts. In his last start, Danzig Connection finished third in the Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont Park.
