Government Offices Close for Holiday
Veterans Day, formerly known as Armistice Day to mark the end of World War I and now honoring all veterans of the armed forces, will see the closure of most city, county, state and federal offices today.
Also shut will be state and federal courts, post offices, most banks and some colleges.
Other major universities and colleges will be open, however. Los Angeles city schools, which closed on Monday to mark the observance, will hold classes today.
