Frank Sinatra was out of his hospital bed after intestinal surgery and his condition continued to improve, his doctor said. “Mr. Sinatra experienced a very comfortable night and was up sitting in a chair this morning,” Dr. Alan Altman said. “All vital signs are normal and his condition continues to be good.” Eisenhower Memorial Hospital spokesman Cliff Brown said the hospital in Rancho Mirage has been swamped with calls from fans expressing their concern for the 70-year-old singer, who entered the hospital Saturday night after severe abdominal pain forced him to cancel a nightclub engagement in Atlantic City, N.J. Sinatra underwent surgery Sunday to relieve an attack of diverticulitis, a painful inflammation of the colon.
