LOS ANGELES — The Anaheim Police Department has agreed to pay $26,350 to an Anaheim man to settle a civil rights lawsuit filed against two police officers four years ago.
Michael Deraddo, now 22, claimed he was treated roughly by the officers who arrested him Oct. 5, 1982. He was arrested during a disturbance at a friend’s house and was charged with resisting arrest. He later was acquitted by an Orange County Municipal Court jury.
The settlement was accepted earlier this week by U.S. District Judge Edward Rafeedie in Los Angeles. A spokesman for the Anaheim Police Department declined to comment, and the attorney hired to represent Anaheim was unavailable for comment.
