She robs banks, and authorities thinks she wears wigs to disguise herself. What they don’t know is whether she actually carries a gun, and just how many banks she has held up in the past two weeks.

An FBI spokesman said the woman is suspected of robbing two banks in three hours on Monday, and two banks in a matter of minutes the Friday before that. A fifth holdup attempt went awry when a teller at a La Palma bank said she had no money.

Frank Calley, special agent in charge of the Orange County FBI headquarters in Santa Ana, said the woman’s string of heists was unusual, even though “we’ve had a couple of women hitting us lately.”

A woman with long brown hair, about 25 to 30 years old and weighing about 125 pounds, walked out of the Wells Fargo Bank’s Westminster branch Monday morning with more than $1,500, police said.

A few hours later, a woman with short, sandy blond hair robbed the Golden State Sanwa Bank in Anaheim.

On the previous Friday, similar robberies occurred at two banks in Fullerton. Although the woman did not show a gun in any of the robberies, she slipped one teller a note that read: “Keep calm. I have a gun and I will use it. Give me all your money.”
