Conveying the Message

As an incurable wanderer, I must compliment you from the outset for far and away the best Sunday travel section I’ve ever found in any newspaper. Having spent five of the past 20 years in the Far East, I can’t help but go for the Times Travel Section right after the comics. John F. Shedd’s very superior article on Ayutthaya (Oct. 26)--having explored Ayutthaya rather thoroughly during the course of multiple visits, the best description I could offer is that no words could describe it. I was amazed by Shedd’s ability to convey so much of Ayutthaya and its charm, especially in such a nice concise article. It was the type of article that would’ve given me a nice glimpse of Ayutthaya if I’d never been there. He treated me to a pleasurable flood of memories.
