Actor Jack Nicholson filed a $20-million lawsuit against NEC Home Electronics Inc., claiming the company used his likeness in an advertisement for television sets without authorization. The ad, which ran in several major general circulation magazines, features a photograph of Nicholson from the film, “Prizzi’s Honor,” with the inscription, “The best brains in television.” Nicholson is seeking a Superior Court court order prohibiting further distribution of the ad, plus $5 million in damages, $10 million in punitive damages and an estimated $5 million in profits from the ad. Spokesmen for NEC in Los Angeles said they could not comment on the suit.
