Frank Anthony Crosta first lost his car and then his restaurant. He also landed in jail.

Police Sgt. Bud Lathrop said Crosta, 38, of Buena Park went to his small Italian restaurant at 163 E. Commonwealth Ave. on Tuesday morning. Shortly before noon, a repossessor arrived to seize Crosta’s 1985 Chevrolet Z-28 Camaro.

While conducting an inventory of the car, the repossessor discovered half an ounce of cocaine and $2,500 in cash in the center console and notified police, Lathrop said.

When officers arrived to arrest Crosta, they met a representative of the marshal’s office at the restaurant--called Bassetto’s--who was there to take its cash receipts, Lathrop said.

Also on hand were representatives of the state Franchise Tax Board and State Board of Equalization, who were there to seize Crosta’s assets for non-payment of taxes and fees.

After the restaurant was closed, Crosta was booked into the Fullerton City Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail on charges of possession of narcotics with intent to sell.

Said Lathrop: “Mr. Crosta is a pretty unlucky man.”
