Occidental will merge 2 units hurt by the oil slump.

In a cost-cutting move, Los Angeles-based Occidental Petroleum said that it will consolidate its domestic and international oil and gas operations that have posted dismal operating results during the slump. At least 300 staff jobs will be eliminated by the consolidation. Occidental’s oil and gas operations recently have created the greatest drag on the company’s financial results.
