A Canadian holding company was ordered to pay nearly $8,000 in penalties for health, fire and safety code violations at a 41-unit apartment building in the Koreatown area of Los Angeles. Municipal Court Commissioner Joseph Spada ordered Anneil Holdings to make a $4,000 contribution to Las Familias, an agency that assists Skid Row families. Los Angeles city attorney spokesman Mike Qualls said the firm also was directed to pay $1,700 in fines and nearly $2,000 to the city fire, health and building and safety departments to cover the cost of their investigations into the slum conditions. The company has now sold the building at 826 S. Hobart Blvd.
