The first of a series of public forums on drug abuse has been scheduled for Dec. 4 by Dist. Atty. Ira Reiner, who has asked five cities to provide panelists and testimony.
The forum will be held from 7 to p.m. in the Glendale Central Library auditorium, 222 E. Harvard St., and will include participants from Pasadena, La Canada Flintridge, La Crescenta, Burbank and Glendale.
The forums are designed to provide information on drug abuse problems and to produce a report on plans to combat them. Testimony is being solicited on new legislation, the impact of drug use, testing for drugs and the needs for law enforcement, prosecution, education and rehabilitation.
Panelists will include Robert Strosser, a Pasadena police commander; Beverly Campbell, head deputy for the Pasadena office of the district attorney; Mary E. Kelsey, mayor of Burbank; Judge J. D. Smith of Glendale Municipal Court; Donald Empey, superintendent of Glendale schools; Robert Schirn, head of the district attorney’s Narcotics Division, and Robert Barkley, public representative from La Canada Flintridge.
