An 81-year-old resident of Leisure World in Laguna Hills died in a fire at her second-floor apartment. Helen Simpson, who lived at 581 Avenida Majorca, was found in her bedroom by Orange County Fire Department firefighters. She apparently lived alone in the apartment. The blaze caused an estimated $50,000 damage to the six-unit building, according to Dave Kinneberg, Orange County Fire Department spokesman. He said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
