Laguna Beach’s Booth Wins Surfing Contest
Amateur Jeff Booth of Laguna Beach captured the title of the Budweiser Pro-Am surfing contest Sunday at the Oceanside Pier.
The victory was worth $2,000 but Booth had to forgo the money in order to maintain his amateur status.
Mike Lambresi of Oceanside placed second and Dino Andino of San Clemente finished third.
Andino had advanced into Sunday’s final three rounds by upsetting defending Professional Surfing Assn. of America champion Mike Cruickshank Saturday.
La Jolla’s Debbie Beacham placed first in the Women’s division.
