City officials remained uncertain Tuesday of precisely how much raw sewage spilled into Los Penasquitos Lagoon on Thanksgiving, when a breakdown at Pump Station 64 sent an estimated 1 million gallons into a drainage ditch and into the lagoon.

Milon Mills, assistant director of the Water Utilities Department, said his department is still attempting to get a precise count. He said a full report should be completed this week.

Meanwhile, officials said other sewage overflows occurred elsewhere in the city in the last five days.

Gary Stephany, chief of environmental health protection for the county, said a Monday morning spill occurred at Tourmaline Beach on the border of Pacific Beach and La Jolla. On Thanksgiving, 27,000 gallons of untreated sewage spilled into Mission Bay.

Yvonne Rehg, a water department spokeswoman, traced the Mission Bay spill to “a build-up of grease in the sewer line.” She said the blockage caused a sewage backup in the 2600 block of Grand Avenue.
