Rushing: The race for the Valley-area’s overall rushing lead continues. Crespi’s Russell White, who edged out Harvard’s Andy Bell in the regular season, still leads, 1,948 yards to Bell’s 1,839. In two playoff games, White has gained 342 yards, while Bell has rushed for 318. Bell has turned in two straight 159 yard-performances.

Passing: Hart’s Jim Bonds and Canyon’s Ken Sollom continue to lead Valley quarterbacks. Through 12 games, Bonds has passed for 2,770 yards, completing 180 of 283 passes. His 35 touchdown passes have tied him for third place on the all-time Southern Section single-season list with Henry Gonzales of Carpinteria (1979). Pat Haden, the former Bishop Amat quarterback who later played with USC and the Rams, holds the record with 42. Sollom has passed for 2,720 yards and has completed 148 of 259 passes with 28 touchdowns.

Scoring: Pat Lynch and Dan Cusumano of Burroughs make the most of their offensive chances. In Friday’s night’s 36-7 win over Lompoc in the Northwestern Conference quarterfinals, Lynch caught just two passes from quarterback Jeff Barrett, but both went for touchdowns, one for 62 and another for 28 yards. Cusumano scored the team’s remaining three touchdowns on two one-yard runs and a six-yard sweep. But Cusumano totaled just 41 yards on 14 carries.
