Four women received Woman of Achievement awards...
Four women received Woman of Achievement awards at the annual recognition dinner sponsored by the Business and Professional Women’s Clubs of Compton, El Segundo, Lawndale and Redondo Marina. The honorees were Katy Geissert, mayor of Torrance; Paula Cone, assistant Lawndale city manager; Wilda McKinney, owner and manager of Wonder Book Store, Compton; and Sandy Gutt, community organizer, El Segundo.
Dr. Robert Fischer, clinical director of child and adolescent services at Del Amo Hospital in Torrance, has been appointed to the Professional Advisory Council of the Youth Suicide National Center. Fischer joined Del Amo Hospital in 1980.
The Southern California Veterinary Medical Assn. has announced the appointment of Dr. Jonathan Bernstein to its board of trustees. A graduate of Ohio State University, he is a former member of the Los Angeles Zoo veterinary staff and was in exotic-animal practice. Since 1974 he has practiced small-animal medicine in Inglewood.
