Pirates Will Play Cardinals in Home Opener April 10

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Pirates, who will celebrate their 100th birthday in 1987, will play their season home opener on Friday, April 10 at 6:35 p.m. against the St. Louis Cardinals.
A four-game series against the Cardinals that includes a 12:35 p.m. game on Monday, April 13 will begin an 81-game home schedule. The Pirates have no scheduled home doubleheaders, and the April 13th game will be the Pirates’ only weekday afternoon game.
The Pirates will open the season April 7 with a 1:35 p.m. game in Shea Stadium against the New York Mets.
In one change from previous seasons, the Pirates announced that all of their April and May home night games will begin at 7:05 p.m. The rest of their home night games will start at 7:35 p.m.
