First Westlake Village Mayor Gets Job Again
Westlake Village Councilman John H. McDonough, who was the town’s first mayor five years ago, has been named by fellow City Council members to a new one-year term as mayor.
Councilwoman Berniece Bennett, the town’s first mayor pro tem after Westlake Village incorporated in 1981, was also returned to her former office in a council election Wednesday.
City Manager James Emmons said the mayor’s position is rotated among council members and each of the city’s five council members has now held the position.
The largely honorary post primarily involves conducting council meetings in the 3,000-home city 15 miles west of the San Fernando Valley.
