College Basketball Roundup : Welp Leads Washington to Easy Victory

Chris Welp scored 24 points as the Washington Huskies coasted past Grambling, 83-64, Sunday in Seattle.
Welp, last season’s Pac-10 Player of the Year, made 11 of 13 field-goal attempts and grabbed 7 rebounds in 22 minutes.
The Huskies (3-3) took control of the game early, running off a 29-6 scoring binge in the first half to take a 34-10 lead.
Ron Caldwell added 19 points for the Huskies and Phil Zevenbergen had 17. Leon Bullock scored 19 points for Grambling (1-4).
UC Santa Barbara 88, Eastern Washington 67--Khris Fortson collected 31 points and 12 rebounds as the Gauchos trounced the Eagles at Cheney, Wash.
Carrick DeHart and Brian Johnson each put in 11 points for Santa Barbara (2-2), and Brian Shaw had 10 assists.
Kevin Sattler had 20 points for Eastern Washington (1-4).
Virginia 73, George Mason 58--Richard Morgan scored 14 points and Tom Sheehey had 13 as the Cavaliers beat the Patriots in the championship game of the Investors tournament at Charlottesville, Va.
Earl Moore scored 16 of his 20 points in the second half for George Mason (1-3), but they weren’t enough to keep the Cavaliers (3-1) for winning the tournament for the 10th straight time.
Missouri 77, Chaminade 65--Derrick Chievous scored 18 points and the Tigers beat the Silverswords at Columbia, Mo.
Chievous scored 11 points in the first half as the Tigers (4-2) built a 36-23 lead. The Tigers increased the lead to 25 points in the second half.
Marty Moore and Rod McCray each scored 20 points for Chaminade (4-4).
Loyola (Md.) 74, Penn State 70--Marqus Hamwright and Mike Morrison combined for 19 points in the final eight minutes as the Greyhounds overcame an 11-point deficit to surprise the Nittany Lions at State College, Pa.
