Another $676,533 in grants from the 1984 Olympic surplus was approved by the Amateur Athletic Foundation board for youth sports in Southern California. The 17-member board also approved a $2 million expansion of the foundation headquarters at 2141 W. Adams Blvd., enabling it to serve as a gathering place and resource center for Southland amateur athletes and youth sports organizations. Among grants approved was one to expand the foundation’s summer swim program for youths. Largest grant approved was $115,000 to the Newport Acquatic Center in Orange County.
