In its biggest single gift ever, the nonprofit Cypress College Foundation has received an undeveloped parcel of land in Cypress valued at more than $200,000.
The land, at the corner of Ball Road and Moody Street, was given to the foundation by Dr. and Mrs. R.S. Minnick of Los Angeles. The nonprofit foundation helps the community college obtain programs and instructional equipment that it couldn’t get with state funds.
The college said that the Minnicks’ gift was “with no restrictions.” “Their motivation for giving was to enrich the quality of education at Cypress College,” a foundation spokeswoman said.
College President Jack Scott said the college will probably retain the land until sometime in the future when it might be sold for an even greater amount.
“There are many educational needs at the college that will be fulfilled by the Minnicks’ gift,” Scott said. “We deeply appreciate their generosity.”
