Share

Anaheim Mayor Pro Tem Irv Pickler was sworn in this week as the newest member of the county Transportation Commission, which oversees transit and highway planning.

Pickler replaces Jim Beam, the ex-mayor of Orange, as one of three representatives of cities on the eight-member panel. Beam abandoned his City Council seat to run for county supervisor but was defeated last month by Anaheim Mayor Don R. Roth.

Pickler, 65, was first elected to the Anaheim council in 1982, and he is a former chairman of the county Planning Commission and a former Anaheim Union High School District trustee.

He was chosen for Transportation Commission membership by a committee of the county chapter of the California League of Cities.

Other commissioners are council members Clarice Blamer of Brea and Richard B. Edgar of Tustin, Supervisors Harriett Wieder, Thomas F. Riley and Ralph B. Clark, and James Roosevelt representing the public at large.

Don Watson of the California Department of Transportation also sits as an ex officio, non-voting member.
