Share

Los Angeles County Sheriff Sherman Block is scheduled to head a panel of judges to determine the winner of a chopped liver contest sponsored by the Beverly-Fairfax Chamber of Commerce. Other judges invited are Los Angeles Councilmen Zev Yaroslavsky and John Ferraro.

The event on Sunday is part of the chamber’s eighth annual Festival of Lights. The holiday festival features music, entertainment and opportunities to shop for the Christmas and Hanukkah holidays, said Cathy Wong, president of the chamber.

Fairfax Avenue will be closed to traffic from Beverly Boulevard to Melrose Avenue between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. for the event. Contest entries will be accepted up until the judging begins at noon.

“We were very selective in choosing our judges,” Wong said. “We invited only those with discriminating taste who could provide us with the expertise required to judge a contest of such a delicate nature.”
