The Supreme Court cleared the way for an invasion-of-privacy trial of horse racing officials who revealed the identities of a convicted horse race fixer and his family.

The court, without comment, let stand a ruling that Anthony Ciulla--now known as Anthony Capra--and his family may sue the Thoroughbred Racing Associations of North America and organization officials.

Ciulla, his wife and son were relocated in Malibu under the federal witness protection program after he was convicted and agreed to testify for the government against others involved in fixing races.

Ciulla’s wife, Helen, applied for a racing license with the California Horse Racing Board in July, 1983. State officials issued a temporary license but revoked it after discovering the Ciullas’ real identities.
