Glendon L. Tremaine, Former L.A. Bar Assn. President, Dies
Glendon L. Tremaine, a veteran Pasadena attorney who in 1966 became president of the Los Angeles County Bar Assn. and over the years served on myriad government and legal committees, died Monday in a Pasadena hospital. He was 82.
Tremaine was a member of the Chancery Club, an exclusive organization of attorneys, and his other activities included membership in the Los Angeles Committee of 21 to Reorganize the City Government (Little Hoover Committee) and chairmanship of the Los Angeles City-County Functional Consolidation Study Commission.
He was a member of the State Republican Central Committee, vice chairman of the Los Angeles County Republican Central Committee and chairman of the Los Angeles County Republican Precinct Committee.
Born in Mason City, Iowa, Tremaine attended Stanford University, USC School of Law and Harvard Business School.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes; son, Lawrence; daughter, Ann Swett, and a brother, Raymond. A memorial Mass will be said Saturday at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church, South Pasadena. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for contributions to Cancer Control, 2043 N. Berendo Ave., or St. John of God Nursing Hospital, 2035 W. Adams Blvd., both in Los Angeles, or Family Services, 118 S. Oak Knoll Ave., Pasadena.
