GHOST TOWN IN HOLIDAY SPIRIT
With the display of 800 wreaths, 5,000 poinsettia plants, 52,500 Christmas lights and dozens of costumed artisans and carolers, Knott’s Berry Farm’s Ghost Town has been transformed into a holiday village.
Knott’s “Ghost Town Christmas Crafts Festival,” which continues until Dec. 24, features demonstrations by glass blowers, weavers, carrousel horse woodcarvers, jewelers, wax and clay sculptors, dulcimer and doll makers and painters. Many of their wares are for sale.
On the performing side are strolling clowns and mimes and a puppet show. Carolers and various choral groups harmonize through the day and night. Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” is performed four times daily in the Bird Cage Theatre.
The festival’s centerpiece, near Virginia’s Gift Shop, is a four-story tree decorated with 2,000 ornaments and bows. Ghost Town’s Jeffries Barn has been turned into “Santa’s Workshop,” where Santa can be visited by children.
The festival is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. until Sunday; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Dec. 15-23; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 24. Knott’s is at 8039 Beach Blvd. in Buena Park. Information: (714) 220-5200.
