Sylmar Man Killed as Car Smashes Into Tree
A 19-year-old Sylmar man died Friday morning when his car slammed into a tree and was cut in half, Los Angeles police said.
The man, Carlos Flores, was northbound on San Fernando Road in Sylmar when he lost control in a curve near the connector road to the Golden State Freeway about 1:30 a.m., Officer Jack Blacklock said .
Flores died at the scene, he said. No other cars were involved.
