Costs of Records to Rise: The cost of certified birth, marriage and marriage-dissolution records will increase from $9 to $11 and certified death records will go up from $5 to $7 effective Jan. 1, County Recorder Lee Branch said. Branch said the increases, under legislation signed by Gov. George Deukmejian, will provide extra money earmarked for automating state records. The increase is supposed to last only two years, Branch said.
