Bail was reduced Tuesday from $50,000 to $10,000 for an El Cajon woman charged with 30 sex crimes committed with a teen-age boy over several years.

Carole Swenson, 23, was extradited last week from Washington, where she surrendered after learning of a $500,000 warrant for her arrest. She pleaded innocent Friday at her arraignment.

San Diego Municipal Court Judge Herbert Exarhos scheduled her preliminary hearing for Jan. 21, at the same time as that of the boy’s father, Clifford Wimberly, 36, of Santee, who is charged with arranging the sexual activities.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Jay Coulter argued that bail should remain at $50,000 but her attorney, Ben Sanchez, argued for the lesser bail amount and suggested she should be released on her own recognizance.

Sanchez said Swenson was in Washington on a vacation when the charges were filed and was not there to escape. He said Swenson might live with her father in El Cajon if released.

A preliminary hearing for the boy’s mother, Victoria Wimberly, 35, will be held Dec. 29. She is charged with two counts of furnishing marijuana to her son, 14, and her daughter, 16.

Court records allege that Clifford Wimberly had arranged the sexual activities since his son was 11 years old. The Wimberlys were arrested Dec. 10 after their daughter complained to the Sheriff’s Department that the children had little food and no electricity in their house on Button Street.

Swenson remained at Las Colinas Women’s Detention Facility on Tuesday, a spokesman said.
