Australian tennis player Pat Cash apologized after he was accused of punching two television cameramen Tuesday while practicing for the Davis Cup final against Sweden at Melbourne.
After losing a practice set to teammate John Fitzgerald, an angry Cash allegedly punched Australian Broadcast Corp. cameraman Mike Patterson who was filming Cash, his girlfriend and five-month old son leaving the stadium.
Later, Cash also pushed aside another cameraman and tried to wrench the camera from his shoulder as he returned to the locker room.
“I am sorry that an incident like this occurred and I ask the media to respect the privacy of myself and my family,” Cash said in a statement.
