Newport Beach : Power Goes Out for Second Night in Row
For the second night in a row, an underground cable failure led to a brief power blackout, Southern California Edison reported.
On Friday, a failure near the intersection of Sausalito Lane and Marguerite Avenue in the Harbor Hills section of Corona del Mar left about 3,000 residents in the dark for about two hours, Gene Carter of Southern California Edison said.
On Thursday evening, a similar breakdown left about 1,200 families and businesses without electricity for an hour in two square miles of the Newport Heights area.
There were no injuries reported either night, and Carter said the two incidents were unrelated. The cause of the cable failures is under investigation.
