Traveling Trojans End Journey With Stop at Tennessee

Share

An extended trip that was broken up by only a few games at home finally ends for the USC basketball team today.

The Trojans (4-5) will play Tennessee (5-1) in Knoxville, Tenn. The game will be broadcast by KNX radio starting at 11:30 a.m. PST.

With today’s game, the Trojans will have been on the road 19 of the past 30 days. USC Coach George Raveling said Friday that it was a solitary Christmas for his players.

“We had Christmas dinner at our hotel in Knoxville and we were the only people in the dining room,” he said.

Tennessee is regarded as a middle of the pack team in the Southeastern Conference. The Volunteers’ 5-1 record is a bit misleading inasmuch as they haven’t played a demanding nonconference schedule.

Tennessee is led by guard Tony White, who is averaging 16.3 points a game. He was the SEC’s leading scorer last season with a 22.2 average.

USC resumes Pacific 10 competition next Friday against California. The game will be played at Loyola Marymount.
