Pacific Palisades Death of Prosecutor a Suicide, U.S. Attorney’s Office Says

A veteran federal prosecutor found dead in a Pacific Palisades parking lot apparently was the victim of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the head, sources at the U.S. attorney’s office in Los Angeles said Monday.

Police said the body of Assistant U.S. Atty. Darrell MacIntyre, 52, was discovered in his car Saturday night. U.S. Atty. Robert Bonner said he knew of no connection between MacIntyre’s death and any criminal cases he had been working on.

MacIntyre’s boss, James Walsh, said MacIntyre had worked as a federal prosecutor for 18 years, the last three of them in Walsh’s major narcotics violators unit.

“He was the toughest prosecutor I’ve ever come across,” Walsh said. “He was a fair guy, a good guy--straight as a string. I’m going to miss him.”
