Local News in Brief : Encino Condo Blaze Injures 1, Routs 30

A fire at an Encino condominium building late Thursday night caused $145,000 in damages and sent one resident to the hospital suffering from smoke inhalation, city fire officials said.

The resident, whose name was not given, was treated and released from Rancho Encino Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said Friday.

The blaze was contained to one unit on the the second floor of the three-story building at 5460 White Oak Ave., fire officials said. About 30 people were evacuated from the building. It took 13 fire companies 25 minutes to extinguish the blaze. The cause of the fire was not known, fire officials said.
