Darrell Waltrip recorded the fastest lap in the history of Daytona International Speedway with a speed of 207.517 m.p.h. during a testing session in his Waddell Wilson-prepared Chevrolet.
The official record of 205.114 m.p.h. was set by Bill Elliott in qualifying for the 1985 Daytona 500. Official NASCAR records can be set only during a qualifying session for a race.
